Why Tai Chi Together?

  • With the Tai Chi Together offering, Mackenzie is dedicated to making traditional Tai Chi forms accessible: if you want to learn, you can. Welcoming beginners and practitioners worldwide, we hope you join us for the free sessions with gentle guidance and community support, where everyone learns at their own pace.

  • Join us for 30 minutes of gentle movement exploration using Tai Chi principles. We explore concepts like grounding, flow, and awareness through simple, accessible movements that anyone can adapt to their own body and space. No complicated forms or prior experience needed -- just curiosity about mindful movement. Rather than practicing relaxation vs. action, Tai Chi can help us discover "relaxation-in-action" -- learning to move and do what we need to do effortlessly (wu-wei) without getting in our own way. As practitioners have found over many hundreds of years, this Taoist approach helps us feel better as well as do better. Come as you are, move at your own pace, and discover what's possible when we approach Tai Chi with gentle curiosity.

  • Short, free YouTube videos (10-15 minutes each) that break down Tai Chi forms into easy-to-learn segments. Each video builds on the previous one, but you can always go back and revisit earlier movements. Learn at your own pace, practice as often as you like, and discover how to move with relaxation rather than effort. No experience needed -- just bring curiosity and a willingness to explore.

    • Starts with 30 minutes of guided movement awareness practice (live streamed on Insight Timer as well as Zoom)

    • Then 15 minutes to practice with one of the bite-sized tutorials. Each person chooses their video and has their own breakout room. I visit rooms to offer encouragement and answer questions.

    • We close with 15 minutes of integration -- limbering, sharing insights, and practicing together with the weekly theme.

The individual practice and integration portions are available only to Zoom participants. This format acknowledges that people learn at different paces and offers a supportive path for exploring tai chi without having to "go it alone" or keep up with a group.

  • Mackenzie is an instructor of the Wuwei Tai Chi School who has co-authored books with Master Park on how scientific understanding and ancient wisdom naturally connect in practical ways. Mackenzie's teaching is rooted in the recognition that everyone already possesses the inner resources they need — these practices simply help us remember how to access them.
